Of the total paid, 72.4% was used to pay retirement pensions, a total of 7,848.3 million, an amount that has risen by 6.9% in the last twelve months, while widowhood pensions they dedicated 1,832.7 million, 4.9% more, according to figures provided today by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration.
In homogeneous terms, excluding the increases applied so far this year, spending on pensions rose by 4.6%, 11.8% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The total number of pensioners as of July 1 stood at 9,013,485 people.
Of the contributory pensions paid, 0.79% more than in the same month of 2021, 6,253,855 were retirement pensions; 2,352,401 widowhood; 952,409 for permanent disability; 343,264 for orphans, and 44,470 for relatives.
The system's average pension amounted to 1,090.4 euros per month, an increase of 5.47%, while the average retirement pension was 1,254.9 euros, 5.58% more than a year earlier.
The average widow's pension was 779.07 euros, an increase of 5.25%.
As for the average amount of new retirement registrations, it amounted to 1,364.3 euros per month in June 2022.
On the other hand, and on July 1, 282,391 pensions received the gender gap supplement, of which 93.3% (263,431) corresponded to women, with an average monthly amount of this supplement of 61.6 euros.
This gender gap supplement, in force since February 2021, consists of a fixed amount of 28 euros per month per child, which is applied from the first and up to a maximum of four.
