The people who are in the office #18: overwhelmed!

"Very honestly, I don't have a minute to myself today, so no time to grant you. I'm overwhelmed." We all have a next-door neighbor who always has a thousand folders to front carry and which, to hear it, never have a minute to breathe. It is constantly "under water", working hard from Monday morning at 8: 30 pm at the Friday evening 19 hours. Not the slightest coffee break in that employment of the time of stakhanoviste, not the slightest linger on Google, or Instagram during work hours. A true soldier corporate. Of a workaholic. It is, at least, what he wants to believe his colleagues... And if it has some similarities with its neighbour hyperstressé (read #6), the overwhelmed is not necessarily tortured by the stress. On the contrary.

The more often, the real overwhelmed, stressed by their overload of work (this is the lot of a large number of assets), will not occur. We don't necessarily hear even if they suffer. In contrast, the overwhelmed that appear ostensibly as such are not consumed by anguish... They are even proud of this overload of work they consider as the unit of measure of their importance in the company.

"If I'm overwhelmed, it is that I am someone special", they say, spinning from meeting to meeting, folder under his arm, taking the airs of a superior. Yet, as we know, spending his time in a meeting is sometimes an excellent shelter to hide the vaccuum of space...

The overwhelmed strategist has forgotten to be stupid. He knows that if he appears constantly busy, the next anxious and riveted on the screen, declining the invitations to a coffee break, it guarantees a great luxury: it is peace sheet. Someone who has the reputation of being always under water, it does not bother him. It does not fall over for a yes or a no. A luxury, but reserved for profiles already fairly capped...

It would be interesting to know what the real office of these co-workers if busy. When he is hunched over his smartphone, what captures his attention, and to mobilize all his powers of concentration, it may be an epic part of Candy Crush...
