Spain: he climbs the altar of a church and places his child in the arms of the Virgin Mary

On the evening of Sunday July 30, as mass was about to begin in the church of Los Realejos, in Tenerife, Spain, a young man ran into the building, a child on his shoulders, before placing him on the statue of the Virgin.

The faithful, who came by the hundreds to the church to attend mass, were at first surprised, but many of them later applauded this unusual scene, which was filmed.

On the images, we can see that, around 7:30 p.m., while the priest and altar servers are preparing the altar, a man runs barefoot in the sacred place, a child on his shoulders. In a hurry, sure of himself even annoyed, he goes to the choir of the church.

Under the amazed gaze of the faithful and even before anyone can react, he climbs the stairs to the high altar, which he climbs, throws his child at the feet of the statue of the Virgin. He climbs in his turn, almost knocking everything down, and finally raises the little one literally in the arms of the mother of Jesus. He goes down again and leaves the child enthroned there.

The man was intercepted by parishioners who forced him to pick up the little boy. Forced to leave the church, he nevertheless took the time to kneel down - with the child still in his arms - to make the sign of the cross, with his back to the altar, as he walked towards the exit along the central nave.
