Las Gabias will see a significant reduction in its waiting lists and improve the care of its medical office through the recent hire of a new doctor, who will be starting his practice in January.
The physician will be joining the municipal health center. Vanessa Polo, the mayor of the municipality, announced the news. She said it was "magnificent news for the town."
In the third week in January, the doctor joined the activities at the health center. This brings the total number of doctors working at the center to 7. This contract is a claim the City Council made for some time to Health of the Junta de Andalucia. It has finally been completed and will allow the municipality to meet its citizens' needs.
Hijar Pediatrician

Still no emergencies

Citizens are gathering signatures on Change.org to ask the Andalusian Government for an emergency service to cover the more than 20,000 residents of Las Gabias, and nearby towns like Cullar Vega.
Miguel Garcia-Paredes was the creator of the online signature collection and pointed out that the Andalusian government is indifferent towards its inhabitants and neighbouring towns. He asked for the help of neighbors to be able send more than 500 signatures on board.
After meeting several of its needs, advances in health have allowed the municipality to begin the year with a better outlook.
