Iran-Israel: the West's policy of “appeasement” towards Tehran has failed, says the Shah's son

The “root cause” of Iran’s influence across the Middle East is the West’s “appeasement” policy, said the son of Iran’s last shah Reza Pahlavi, now living in exile in the United States, in an interview with the British daily The Telegraph on Saturday. After Iran's drone and missile attack on Israel on the night of Saturday April 13 to Sunday April 14, the opponent of the Iranian regime estimated that Western leaders had a "weak approach" towards Tehran and called for a “reset” of relations.

Pahlavi considered that “the expectation of a change in behavior on the part of the” Iranian regime “did not work.” He wishes for the resurgence of “a time when there was stronger leadership that changed the world in very significant ways: Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher at the end of the Cold War.” The heir to the shah of Iran also felt that there was no longer any dialogue with Tehran: “Diplomacy has failed. Appeasement has failed. Any pursuit along this path frankly reveals madness.”

The one who embodies one of the figures of the opposition to the regime of the Islamic Republic even declared that the West must adopt the same approach with Iran as with South Africa under apartheid. Since 1946, the UN has carried out various actions aimed at combating forms of racial discrimination. “The scenario is similar,” he said. The difference being that, if “South Africa had a racial policy”, the Iranian regime “promotes terrorism”. “It’s not just about being repressive. It’s actually a threat to the world,” he continued.
