First aid and aquatic lifeguard training for young people

The Department of Youth announced a new course for young people in the town. It will focus on first aid, DESA (Semiautomatic Defibrillator), and lifeguards. Registration is required as there will only be 20 students who are eligible. Training will be provided in the most comfortable conditions.

Once the course has been completed, the Junta de Andalucia will approve the title and it will be used as an official document for any job. Diego Cano, the Councilor for Youth, announced the initiative along with Pablo Hervas, the Aquasport gym manager.

Mayor pointed out that the City Council had made efforts to promote this course. It is a training tool for youth in the municipality to be more able to enter the labor market. This will be even more important when summer arrives, when many pools will be open to the public.

He said that there are many young people interested in the course, but not enough financial resources to pay for it. The Department of Youth will subsidise 50% of the training costs, meaning that each student will only pay 110 euros rather than 220 euros.

Mayor praised Aquasport gym's willingness to collaborate with the City Council in order to create attractive activities for young people. These activities improve their knowledge, and can help them find work later on.

Pablo Hervas, for his part, expressed gratitude for the trust he received in the execution of this training and other collaborations throughout 2018. He explained that the course would last 120 hours, with 40 face-to-face and 80 online hours. It will be broken down into three blocks: lifeguarding, first-aid, and Semiautomatic Defibrillator.
