ZOO welcomes for the first time in history baby epaulethaaitjes

Antwerp First for the Antwerp ZOO. For the first time in history, there are epaulethaaitjes born. A epaulethaai is a very special haaiensoort. This type of shark is not an endangered species, but the successful breeding of tropical deep sea fishing is a challenge. The ZOO has been epaulethaaien, but the group was never large enough to provide a solid breeding to start. Provisionally, there is one adult shark in the aquarium that is visible by the public, but who lives quite hidden. “If we have more of his own breeding, we can make them beautiful in the showaquarium show,” says Wilfried, a keeper in the Aquarium. The little ones are about ten inches wide and crawling even around in the separate basin, until they are big enough to the other fish in one of the marine aquariums to join in the large hall of the Aquarium
