Employer of the arrested friends tunnelkraak testifies: Gio worked long days, who had no time for bankkraken. Koba, that's something else

Antwerp Since Thursday morning there are three other suspects in the cell for the bankkraak on the BNP-Parisbasfiliaal on the Belgiëlei. Two friends and ex-colleagues at work, Giorgi K. and Koba, M., are held. A third suspect will appear Friday before the judge. The manager of the transport company where Giorgi and Koba worked closely together, has his idea about the involvement of his (ex-)drivers.

The 28-year-old Giorgi K. was Tuesday night in his apartment in Berchem arrested. That happened without a lot of posturing. “Six policemen in citizen called in around 18 hours to the house. The man was apparently at home because he showed them through the intercom system within,” says a neighbor.

Detectives have the fingerprints of Giorgi K. found on stuff in the kelderappartement in the Nerviërsstraat were left behind. The bank robbers had that apartment rented to their tunnels to the bank branch on the Belgiëlei to dig. In the tunnels and the apartment are drills and grinding wheels found and also oxygen bottles that the bank robbers used to be not stunned to get caught up in the sewers.

According to reliable sources and Giorgi K. admitted that he was in the apartment in the Nerviërsstraat was but that he saw nothing of the preparations of the tunnelkraak. Giorgi and Koba knew each other for quite some time. They worked previously together in a transport company but it went bankrupt. They then proceeded together to work for a carrier in Wommelgem.
