DN Opinion. Studded tires saves many lives in traffic

Björn Sandberg writes in a letter to the editor that he would like to ban studded tires south of Sweden (28 march). He has probably never driven a car on the west Coast.

Along the Swedish west coast, with the Skageraks and Productive salt water as the nearest neighbor, occur sometimes a slip where the road looks and seems perfectly dry and clean, but in fact it has a thin crust of ice over themselves. The road conditions will help no-free friction tires, stud snow tires, in the world.

Björn Sandberg writes that between 200 and 300 lives could be saved without studded tyres, then the dust from the tires is harmful for human health. However, the use of studded tyres reduces the number of accidents, and, as a result of this die and are damaged less in traffic.
