The young Spanish hopeful Juan Ayuso won the Tour of the Basque Country on Saturday, finishing the sixth and final stage detached in the company of his compatriot Carlos Rodriguez, to whom he left the victory in this premier stage.
Ayuso, 21, twice attacked the yellow jersey Mattias Skjelmose, which he finally let go in the last difficulty of the course, 138 km around Eibar punctuated by seven climbs, including three first category.
Ayuso triumphs in an event in which the big favorites Primoz Roglic, Remco Evenepoel and Jonas Vingegaard all abandoned Thursday after the terrible collective fall of the fourth stage.
