Tops
The former Montauban winger, positioned on the right side, is the man for the last five minutes of the match. He started and finished the winning try for Stade Français. Well positioned, skillful and cunning, the 25-year-old intercepted a hazardous pass from Ben Tapuai in the last 25 meters of Bordeaux before scoring the final try of the match without trembling.
Parisian kicker Joris Segonds (26 years old) was very skillful on his feet. Out of six attempts, the flyhalf failed on a single occasion. He scored the final points of the match in the 76th minute and forced UBB to try to score a try.
Flops
They started the game perfectly but foundered in the final moments of the first period. Yet ahead of the score and quite significantly (21-6 after thirty minutes of play), the Bordelo-Bèglais relaxed at the end of the first period and conceded, in quick succession and in five minutes, two converted tries, which allowed the Parisians to believe in it again. The latter never led the score again, until Tapuai's hazardous pass, which arrived at the wrong time.
The Union Bordeaux-Bègles opener had a nightmarish end to the first half. He made several particularly questionable choices and technical errors, which notably led to Ward's try before half-time. This was followed by a failure on a penalty attempt by the Bordeaux kicker.
The UBB center took an unnecessary risk by making a very daring pass from 22 meters while the UBB had the possibility of clearing without too much difficulty. Stéphane Ahmed took the opportunity to crucify his team.
