Tech Transfer Agrifood makes its first international investment

The fund specialized in food startups enters the Swiss Nemis Technologies.

Tech Transfer Agrifood, a fund managed by the venture capital manager Clave Capital, invests in the Swiss biotechnology company, Nemis Technologies, for the launch of its first Listeria Monocytogenes rapid detection test; bacterium that causes listeriosis, which occupies one of the main rates of food poisoning. The fund has participated in an extended Series A financing round.

With this operation, Tech Transfer Agrifood closes its first international economic injection that adds to the 13 already made in Spain. This platform, which was created by the Polytechnic University of Valencia, selects investments aimed at promoting innovative solutions that meet the existing needs in the food chain.

"For our team, made up of experts in investment and in the Food Sector, and for the industry itself, food safety and quality are paramount. For this reason, we have seen fit to invest in Nemis technology that will streamline the processes of detection and elimination of foodborne pathogens, starting with Listeria Monocytogenes", explains Pedro de Álava, director of the Clave Capital fund.

Along with this round of financing, Nemis Technologies has closed a distribution agreement with one of the largest national specialists in food quality and safety, Bioser, which will allow the startup to continue with its global expansion, already started in some European countries, in addition to consolidate in the Spanish market.

Created in Switzerland in 2018, Nemis Technoogies has specialized in the detection of Listeria Monocytogenes. However, in the coming years it plans to expand the field of application of its technology to the rapid detection of viruses, fungi, parasites and bacteria that cause other food microbiological risks.
