Oppo Find N2 Flip: This is the folding that threatens the reign of Samsung

Folding phones have been making headlines in the technology sector for some time, but the truth is that Samsung has been the only company to turn these launches into products that are sold in Spanish stores with some success.

This year, the story could change, because during the reign of Samsung, interesting competitors begin to appear with proposals that stand out for their similarities, but also for the improvements compared to the Korean Galaxy Z range.

While waiting to see Xiaomi's proposal in Spain, Oppo recently announced two new foldables, the Find N2 and the Find N2 Flip, of which only the second will arrive in our country. And I think it was the right decision on the part of the Asian company, since it is the Flip or shell-type closure models that at the moment seem to be conquering the Spanish user.

Oppo is very convinced of its team and bets all its high-end cards on this folding device that has certain similarities with the Samsung Flip, but also interesting differences.

As in any foldable that boasts these characteristics, the design and the hinge that allows the phone to be folded are the aspects that attract the most attention at first.

At Oppo they are aware of this and after a few years working on this technology (and launching foldables that have not reached Spain) they achieve one of the best folds that currently exist in the Spanish market.

To achieve this, Oppo uses the same waterdrop-shaped hinge technology as in the Find N2 (which we will not see in Spain), reducing the width of the fold by 65% and achieving that when passing the finger over the slot , practically not noticeable.

According to the company, it is the smallest hinge in the sector and materials such as carbon fiber have been used to make it more resistant. Specifically, it supports about 100 folds a day for 10 years to stay in perfect condition, according to their tests.

It is also true that the smoothness with which the phone opens and closes is a highlight over the competition, being able to use it at different angles from 45 to 110 degrees.

In summary, we may be facing the phone that has best solved the problem of the central fold in folding terminals, at least so far.

Another point in favor of the Oppo Flip is the exterior panel. The Chinese company has opted for a 3.26-inch screen, larger than that of the competition, although the functions it allows to do are similar: access widgets such as the weather, quick access to basic settings, reading messages (and answer them with emojis or preset texts), receive notifications or take calls.

To give it a touch of color, Oppo also allows you to use gifs in this panel or opt for some nice pets that move and interact depending on what the terminal is being used for.

When you open the phone, the panel goes to 6.8 inches, with 120 Hz refresh rate, having a good screen worthy of a terminal that is around 1,000 euros. Of course, as in Samsung, it has a plastic that protects it, almost imperceptible, and that should not be removed so as not to damage the folding panel.

In the power section, perhaps a little more could have been demanded for the Find N2 Flip, which mounts the Mediateck 9000 chip with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage.

On the other hand, those of the Asian company boast a battery, with 4,300 mAh, the largest in this segment, and a 44W fast charge, which means that in 57 minutes the battery will be at 100%.

Oppo's Flip comes equipped with two main lenses and a selfie camera.

As for the rear, it is a 50 Mpx Sony IMX890 sensor and a wide angle of 8 Mpx. Likewise, the firm takes advantage of its agreement with the photographic firm Hasselblad also in this equipment and incorporates the Marisilicom chip that it uses in its high-end terminals for better image processing.

Being a folding, the photographic section becomes quite interesting, being able to use the external screen as a mirror for the user who is going to be photographed or if you take a selfie yourself, you can do it with the main lenses. In addition, from the external screen it is possible to control and activate the camera.

The fold is also practical when it comes to supporting the equipment, both for photography and for video calls.

The Oppo Find N2 Flip will hit the Spanish market on March 1 for 1,049 euros, but Oppo has launched a pre-order offer whereby users who buy the equipment before February 28 will get it for 999 euros, with the headphones Oppo Enco Free2 as a gift.
