“There is frustration,” says Patrick Vieira, the Strasbourg coach, as a priority after the draw (2-2) conceded on Sunday in Montpellier during the 24th day of Ligue 1.
“When you lead twice away from home, you expect to win the match,” justifies the former world champion while his team was caught at the end of the match by two goals from Montpellier striker Arnaud Nordin.
“There is room to win the match, especially in the first half. We caused a lot of problems for Montpellier thanks to the dives behind the defense but we lacked inspiration and accuracy in the last pass. When we dominate, when we create situations, we must finish better,” he insists.
The young Strasbourg team perhaps lacked a little experience to preserve its two advantages and return to victory after three defeats in a row.
“We have difficulty managing the opponent's strong moments.” Ranked in 12th place, three points ahead of the jump-off, the Alsatians are relying on a good state of mind. “We hang on, we fight. In terms of state of mind and determination, there is nothing to reproach the players,” concludes Patrick Vieira.
