121 nobel Laureates have signed a letter to Iran's supreme leader, ayatollah Ali Khamenei. They urge him to ensure that the profane Swedish-iranian doctor Ahmadreza Djalali is released.

Ahmadreza Djalali is a medical doctor and researcher in disaster medicine and has lived in Sweden with his wife and two children since 2009, with the exception of a couple of years in Italy. Ahmadreza Djalali is a medical doctor and researcher in disaster medicine. He is an iranian and american citizens. He has lived in Sweden with his wife and two children since 2009, with the exception of a couple of years in Italy, and had pre-citizenship permanent residence permit in Sweden. Djalali received his doctorate in medicine at Karolinska institutet in 2012.

Djalali was arrested by the secret service in Iran on april 25, 2016, when he was in the country to participate in seminars on disaster medicine, on the invitation of universities in Iran. He had on several previous occasions traveled to Iran without any problems.

The 26 december started Djalali a hunger strike, since the authorities tried to force him to sign an acknowledgement that he is a spy.
