As fans and riders agree and wildly enthusiastic about a new race, then you know that it is right. The Strade Bianche was founded in 1997 as a granfondo for amateurs. Participate could only be on a bike that is at least thirty years old. Also the route was retro: the organization sent the lovers on gravel roads that only farmers and the love birds were used.
Ten years later, in 2007, was at the event, a profwedstrijd linked. The recipe remained the same, but, of course, could now be the most modern bikes used to be. Sprinter Daniele Bennati immediately saw the potential. "It's fantastic," he said. "It is like returning in time. I didn't know that that kind of roads still exists. This race may become an important classic."
