75 million extra for the climate? A good start, but it is still not enough

Climate The 75 million euros that the government is going to be used for additional climate action is a good start. “But it is still not enough,” says Kyra Gantois of Youth for Climate.

The funding of the Flemish government on top of the previously taken measures and the arrangements in the Flemish Energy and climate plan. The largest additional budgets to the energy renovation of social housing (20 million euro) and of the onderwijspatrimonium (15 million euro). At the end there is even stepped up a notch.

The young people of Youth for Climate found that within all governments one step may be bijgestoken and insist that there is at the federal level an opportunity was missed. "The revision of article 7bis was a good start. These additional measures are all good, but we want real evidence of change. We continue our marches. This is still not enough.”

“We ought to be panic”
Greta Thunberg was again present in Berlin. The Swedish klimaatactiviste joined the thousands of students who today meeliepen in a " Fridays for Future’-parade. That ended at the Brandenburg gate.

“We want a future. Is that too much to ask? This is just the beginning of the beginning”, said the 16-year-old activist to the crowd in English.

“The older generation has not succeeded in the biggest crisis of mankind to control. Pet them young people over the head and tell them that everything will be alright. But we should panic.”
