1 chance out of 30 million: a very rare colorful lobster from the cooking pot saved

Animals In a fish market to smell and see everything. But when the owner of such a market in the U.S., suddenly an extremely rare lobster with a wonderful colour palette sitting between the delivered catch from Maine, he drew very large eyes.

The particular calico-lobster is mottled with orange, yellow, and black colors. According to the University of Maine's Lobster Institute is the species so rare that the chance to see them live to find only 1 in 30 million. Blue lobsters, for example, is much more frequent (1 in 2 million). The only lobsters are even rarer, are the two-toned lobster (1 in 50 million) and the albinokreeft (1 in 100 million).

“I had actually never seen anything like it,” says Nicholas, owner of Ocean City Seafood in Silver Spring, Maryland, to WJLA. He set the animal apart, and around them gaped at the beauty of it. Soon was his decision: the female lobster - Eve baptized - had to as quickly as possible away from the fish market. “They should not just on someone's plate end up.”

Then he called the National Aquarium in Baltimore. A researcher from the centre came the lobster right away with a visit to rejoice. “She was also in shock,” said Nicholas. “She had to sit down, because it was crazy.”
