It is correct that Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) raised concerns about the judicial reform in conversation with Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. "Nevertheless, criticism of it must not cause us to lose sight of the most existential of all threats to the Jewish state," said Kühnert. "Germany and Israel are dependent on a close political and institutional partnership, especially in the area of ​​security."

The day after Netanyahu's reception in Berlin, Kühnert called for tougher action against Iran. "Israel is Germany's most important ally in the Middle East and is existentially threatened by Iran's nuclear armament, as Tehran has repeatedly openly acknowledged," said the SPD general secretary.

The international community must pay more attention to Iran in light of recent reports on progress in the enrichment of weapons-grade uranium. "Germany rightly has a special responsibility and is committed across party lines to understanding Israel's security as part of our reason of state."

The SPD is observing the "nuclear escalation in Iran" with growing concern and is taking the warnings from Israel seriously. Kühnert wants to put the “Revolutionary Guards” on the EU terror list.
