How to get on the idea to turning in the Taiwanese capital of Taipei to make a documentary in the cookshop "Litte Plates with Rice", which has been open all night?
I was a few years ago with my last Film to guest at a film festival in Taipei. To me, the kind of fascinated, as this metropolis power of the night. The first idea was to turn to night markets, where there is the whole night something to eat. There we sat for several evenings in a small, Local, and watched the people. One Night, we were convinced that we could go to walk home. On the way we got lost of course and eventually landed in the food stall, in the "Closing Time" plays.

What is it exactly?
Me, fascinated by something that is not common among us very far: That in Taipei and even in the Asian area a lot of people are doing their Job then, if we had in the evening still for a long time, or to work in the first place to start. Therefore, there is in Taipei, a lot of people who want to eat get in the night. That is the night anyway the other time. In the night, many things seem more intimate. Closer.

I find the idea that an image can go beyond what it shows. Not only that, it would actually be more than what it is. We humans work so that we can tell each other stories that are comprehensible. In the process, things can be very difficult to classify events in life constantly. Between these two experiences there is a gap, and this gap interested me. I do not see myself as a artist, running around with a finished Vision. But I have the feeling that my own life is not so easy in a straight-forward narrative push, and I would like to Express with my films.

How friends react to the type of documentaries you make?
of Course, it takes a certain willingness, on such a Film. But if I remember our Premiere in Locarno last year, then I know that there are a surprisingly large openness for the kind of movies. It is a Film that takes you on a perceptual journey.
