The account of Yulia Navalnaïa, the widow of opponent Alexeï Navalny, was briefly suspended on Tuesday on the X platform (formerly Twitter) for violations of the rules of use, just one day after its creation.
Yulia Navalnaïa created it on Monday after announcing that she was taking over from her husband in his political fight. She published a video there where she accuses Russian President Vladimir Putin of having killed Alexei Navalny and wrote there on Tuesday that she “doesn't care” about the Kremlin's comments. “Account suspended”, it was indicated on the page of the widow of the opponent whose team requested explanations from Elon Musk, the owner of the platform.
European Commissioner Thierry Breton warned the CEO of X that “arbitrary” account suspensions were not acceptable. “The EU defends freedom of expression and online security,” the French Digital Commissioner wrote on X.
