What happened this morning on X (formerly Twitter)? A major outage occurred at 6 a.m. this Thursday on the social network, on a global scale. Consequence: no more publications were accessible either on the application or on the official website of “subscriptions” – were available again. At this time, neither Elon Musk (owner of the platform) nor the official X account have commented on the incident.
According to the monitoring site DownDetector.fr, which specializes in reporting malfunctions, several tens of thousands of reports had been made by users of X (formerly Twitter) around the world. “User reports indicate issues on X (Twitter),” the site said, adding that reports began to increase just before 6 a.m. The platform's news feeds were empty and no new tweets were visible, although the twitter.com website was available and the "spaces" function visible.
At the height of the incident, Downdetector reported that around 67,000 US users had reported problems. The incident also affected X Pro, formerly known as TweetDeck. X is currently facing headwinds, including a European investigation into alleged breaches of European rules on content moderation and transparency.
This is not the first time that a “bug” of this magnitude has occurred on this social network. A major outage had already been reported by Downdetector.fr in February, affecting thousands of users.
