Imminent takeoff at Paramount Studios: a third installment of the Top Gun saga is reportedly in preparation. According to information from the Hollywood Reporter, Ehren Kruger, the co-writer of Top Gun: Maverick, is currently immersed in writing a new chapter for the franchise.
The specialized media suggests that the director of the part released in 2022, Joe Kosinski, would also be part of the adventure. The ambition of this film is to bring together on screen Tom Cruise and the young flagship duo of Maverick, Miles Teller (Rooster, the son of Goose) and Glen Powell (Hangman).
Maverick was a huge box office success in 2022, grossing $1.5 billion worldwide and even leading director Steven Spielberg to congratulate Tom Cruise for saving the movie industry - which had been battered by the Covid19 pandemic.

But fans will have to be patient: this third Top Gun doesn't yet have a release date and it may not hit the big screen anytime soon. Tom Cruise has just signed an agreement with Warner Bros. studios. to shoot several blockbusters.
A contract which does not contain an exclusivity clause, specifies Hollywood Reporter: the 61-year-old actor will therefore be able to continue working for other studios. Tom Cruise is, for the moment, involved in the filming of the eighth part of Mission Impossible, which is scheduled for release in May 2025.
