The filming of Unstoppable, by Ben Affleck, interrupted by the writers' strike

After the end of Blade and Thunderbolts production, it's Unstoppable's turn. The filming of Ben Affleck's next feature film has just been interrupted due to the writers' strike that has been hitting Hollywood for several weeks. Cameras began snapping the first images of the film starring Jennifer Lopez in the title role just two weeks ago.

The actor, who started directing in 2007 with Gone Baby Gone, returns behind the camera to tell a story inspired by the life of Anthony Robles, a one-legged born American wrestling champion. The feature film is the second from the production company he co-founded with Matt Damon. The first film produced by the company and broadcast on the Prime Video platform, Air, returned to the collaboration between basketball player Michael Jordan and the sports brand Nike.

Other big productions have already been put on hold with this strike. Marvel studios have announced the end of their two productions, Blade and Thunderbolds. On the series side, the filming of the Rings of Powers and Stranger Things have also been postponed with the extension of the social movement.

Failing an agreement with the major studios, the powerful union of American screenwriters (the Writers Guild of America) has ordered its troops to go on strike as of May.

The screenwriters, who are demanding an increase in their salaries, minimum guarantees for more stable employment and a better sharing of the profits generated by the streaming industry, considered that the studios' responses to their requests were "totally insufficient given the existential crisis that screenwriters face”. The profession explained that it is now struggling to make a living from its profession due to stagnating wages and inflation.
