Suffering from dementia, porn actor Ron Jeremy will be released from prison

Pornographic actor Ron Jeremy, indicted in California for rape and sexual assault on 21 victims, some of whom were minors, will be released from prison and transferred to a “private residence” because he suffers from dementia, according to the Los Angeles Times .

The health of the septuagenarian, who appeared in more than 1,700 porn films during his career, "has deteriorated to the point where he is essentially bedridden," according to an email from the Los Angeles prosecutor's office obtained by everyday life. So a judge agreed to move him to a “private residence” where he will receive “24-hour medical care” after it was determined that “no medical facility would accept him.” This release from prison for health reasons, which the prosecution opposed, extinguishes almost all chances that the actor will be tried for the rapes of which he is accused.

Dementia is a degenerative disease, which usually gets worse over time. In January, the 70-year-old ex-star had already been declared mentally unfit to stand trial, following a psychiatric assessment. His arrest and appearance before a Los Angeles court sparked a new wave of complaints against him, and he has since been in pre-trial detention.

The oldest facts date back to 1996. In total, Ron Jeremy is accused of various sexual violence against 21 women aged 15 to 51. The actor has always denied the accusations against him. On Twitter, he declared himself completely “innocent”, and he pleaded “not guilty” to the judge. In June 2020, his lawyer Stuart Goldfarb flatly denied the accusations against his client, assuring that he was “not a rapist”. “Ron, over the years and because of who he is, has been the partner of more than 4,000 women (...)
