Luis Medina is the commission agent and enters the Treasury's list of defaulters

Thursday's list of defaulters was made public by the Tax Agency. This is the ninth such publication since 2015, when the Ministry of Finance, led by Cristobal Monteros, published this "black document" that lists names of individuals and legal entities with higher debts to 600,000. These numbers were lowered from the previous million euros.

The new June list shows 7,037 taxpayers, which is 3.3% less than December's. They owe 17.700 million euros to Treasury. This figure is also lower than the 18,200,000,000 in the previous publication.

1.387 of all debtors were natural persons with a debt amounting to 2,125 million euros. This is consistent with the previous list. There are 5,650 legal entities, which is lower than the December publication's 5,910. They also have debts of less than 15,585 millions euros.

An investigation into fraud in Madrid mask sales begins in the year being investigated.

Jose Maria Aristrain

Forbes ranks the man known for being the "steel tycoon" in 27th place out of the nation's greatest fortunes.

The document is full of surprises, just like every semester. The document contains surprises for everyone: celebrities, companies, people from the entertainment, sport, and culture worlds. You can find everything. Luis Medina was one of the latest additions to this dubious reputation. He was investigated by the Madrid City Council for allegedly committing fraud in connection to the purchase of masks during pandemic. The total owed by the treasury to the businessman, who is the son of Naty Abascal, and the Duke of Feria.

Jose Maria Aristrain (Basque steel tycoon, one of the great Spanish fortunes) is also included in the list.

rodrigo rat

This Spanish politician and banker is a regular on this list. His debt has remained unchanged for the past six months.

Patricia Count

Presenter managed to reduce her debt to the Treasury by 200,000 Euros to 1.04 Million.

Kiko Matamoros

It was added to the list last year, and its debt has risen from 711 000 euros.

Mario Count

Although it is one of the largest debtors, its debt has been reduced by half a billion in the past year.

Notable departures are also made from the list. Notable departures include Carlo Ancelotti (the coach at Real Madrid), who had a debt amounting to 1.4 million euros on the December list. Twitter also disappeared, with a debt amounting to 800,000.

The new list retains two of the greatest surprises from the previous one. The first is Sergi Arola, the chef, who has a debt of 985.156 euros. This is slightly lower than the 985.924 euros in the previous list. Samuel Etoo, a footballer, has a debt of 985,156 euros to the Treasury, which is the same as December. Diego Torres (ex-partner of Inaki Urdangarin) is next with 956,000 and Rodrigo Rato (ex-president of Bankia), with 1.39million euros.

Carlo Ancelotti

Real Madrid coach, who made his debut in December with an outstanding debt of 1.4million, has been removed from the list.

Twitter

After adding 800,000 euros to the debt in 2021, the social network is freed from control over the Treasury.

Mario Conde is another regular in tax inspections. His debt, which remains immovable at 7.82 millions euros, accumulated nearly 8.4 million in June 2021, makes it an excellent example. Dani Alves, the soccer player, remains at 2,087 million. Patricia Conde, the presenter, has decreased her debt from 1.06 million to 1.04 million euros. Kiko Matamoros, the talk show host, still owes 713,000. Cesar Vidal, the writer, is also still in debt at 2.6 million.

Agapito Garcia is once again the most prominent individual on this list. Agapito Garcia, also known as the 'debtor to Spain', has not reduced his owes to Treasury but has increased it from 14.93 million to 15 millions euros. With 15.6 million euros, he is close to regaining the top spot in the list of defaulters Teresa Maldonado stole from him. Together with her husband Jesus Ruiz Casado, they are the owners of Aifos.

Real estate is one of the many business giants who continue to be on the list. Grupo Prasa, which has 96.62 millions euros in debt, and Reyal Urbis with over 310 million euro of debt. Real estate and construction companies are the most prominent 'zombie" companies still owing money to the state due to circumstances that arose from the 2008 crisis. To the shock of their creditors such as the Nozar Group, some have disappeared from this list.

The Cantoblanco Group, which Arturo Fernandez owns, and Desguaces La Torre have 12 million and 20.1 millions euros respectively of debt. Similar to Abengoa which was rejected by SEPI for rescue, the Treasury has more than 64 million debts with all of its companies.

The magnitude of the debts owed has also shown the impact of the pandemic. These large debtors have accumulated 6787 million euros (38%). This corresponds to companies in bankruptcy proceedings (267 debtors or 29% of the total). The Tax Agency explains that this is debt "that has been affected by a process in whose possibilities of effective collection are limited while bankruptcy itself lasts." The previous list contained 2,100 companies with debts exceeding 7,200 million euros.

The Tax Agency data shows that 580 taxpayers were removed from the list in June, as compared to December. This was a difference of 1164 million euros. They indicate that the exit could be due to total or partial cancellations of debts subject to publication as well as the obtaining a deferral of suspension or suspension of debt prior to data collection (31/12/21).

The list includes 340 debtors that did not appear by June 2021, and a total debt totaling 636 million euros.

Additionally, the debtors with outstanding debts at the end of 2022 (a total of 3,077 as of December 30) have earned income of 638 million. However, revenues of 81.8 million have been earned corresponding to debtors that have avoided being on the ninth list.
