Another 8% drop in car sales in June

The sector continues to be affected by the microchip crisis. The economic uncertainty has also caused many consumers delay making purchases, which continues to impact the motor industry.

Particularly, the automobile market registered passenger cars of 89,252 units for June. This is a drop of nearly 7.8% which increases the collapse in the total figure for the first half to almost 11%. The sale of 407.757 units also contributed to the decline.

Data from Anfac, Faconauto and Ganvam associations do not support optimism. The monthly deliveries in the individual channel decreased by 2%, with 35.551 units. However, they increased by 18.4% in business channel with 37.100 units. The notable decline of 43.1% in car rental companies' June purchases was 16601 vehicles.

The private channel saw an increase of 1.2% in automobile deliveries between January and June. The period saw the acquisition of 171,590 units by companies, which is 2.3% more. The number of units rented from a rental car was 59,035, 48.3% lower.

Last month's registrations for renting stood at 28,793 units. This compares to a 9.7% decrease in year-on-year numbers. However, between January and June, the drop in this channel was 12.6% up to 123.534 units.
