When it comes to whole milk, organic scores particularly well

It looks ivory or light ivory. The milk fat is really visible. They smell pure and the taste is slightly buttery: This is how the tasters from Stiftung Warentest describe their test winners in the whole milk comparison in the magazine "Test" (issue 03/2023). Rarely do testers give such positive ratings for a series of tests. But there are a lot of points for the six traditionally produced and 22 long-life whole milk products: Six times they lead to a "very good" and 18 times to a "good".

Five of the six best carry an organic seal, but it doesn't have to be expensive. The cheapest good milk comes from Aldi for 1.39 euros. These are the test winners:

Black Forest milk (1.89 euros per liter), Demeter Dennree from Denn's Biomarkt (1.79 euros per liter), Demeter Nordfrische farmer's milk from Edeka (1.79 euros per liter), hay milk from the Transparent Dairy (1 EUR .89 per liter) and Arla pasture milk (EUR 1.79 per liter).

But Aldis Tierwohl Weidemilch (1.39 euros per liter) can also keep up and is the sixth very good milk.

In the test, hay milk has 2.3 times more healthy omega-3 fatty acids than conventional milk, according to the product testers. The worst judgment in the test is "satisfactory" - for four longer-lasting products. Points were deducted if milk was not heated up so gently. As a result, the chemical quality suffers, although the milk tastes good or even very good. A manufacturer receives a deduction because it advertises as “regional”, but its milk is bottled in another federal state.
