United Left Huetor Vega proposes to create a Local Council for Children and Adolescents

IU proposed the creation a Local Council for Children and Adolescents. Huetor Vega training says that the Local Council for Children and Adolescents would be an instrument that would ensure that the children and adolescents of the municipality have a voice and a decision-making power.

Unicef representatives met with them to discuss the importance of children's participation in the development of policies for children's municipalities. They point out that this proposal would favor the implementation of policies to improve childhood and adolescence within the municipality. They have stressed the importance of keeping "continuous contact", with Unicef groups, to get advice and apply "effective" projects.

Chus Fernandez (Huet), deputy to IU and parliamentarian for United We Can for Andalusia, told Huet that the launch the Local Council for Children and Adolescents will require the participation of all municipal groups. They will be responsible for the preparation and analysis a dossier containing all relevant documentation.

Fernandez emphasizes the importance of developing a four-year-old municipal plan for children. Fernandez stated that this is possible because a local assessment of the children and adolescents must be done to determine the resources, time and budget needed. He also pointed out that the evaluation and monitoring must be included.

Vladimir Garcia, IU's spokesman on the Huetor Vega City Council has stated that towns must be safe places for children and teens and have access to quality public services.. Vladimir Garcia also stressed that municipalities should be considered as "ideal scenarios" to work on participation in childhood or adolescence. This is because their topics and proposals are collected in order to address issues that impact their individual and collective circumstances.
