The City Council of El Ejido has begun the necessary steps to modify the General Urban Planning Plan of the municipality in a very short time.

The first measure, which is also included in the initiatives of Law to Promote the Sustainability of Andalusia Territory (LISTA), is the preparation of a study commissioned by two companies. This analysis analyzes the current planning and its evolution over the years to present different options for the General Plan's future revision. An already completed study.

The mayor, Francisco Gongora, and Alberto Gonzalez, the Councilor for Urbanism met yesterday to discuss the recommendations. They also discussed the plans with municipal technicians to boost urban growth in a sustainable manner and adapt to the contents of the new law (LISTA), to update the cartography to regional regulations, state, and European and meet the needs and demands of the population as well as to promote public mobility, facilities, and residential complexes that are of high quality in urban areas, including El Ejido's.

The next step for the local government is to complete the cartographic work. This will be followed up by studies and strategies regarding mobility, climate change and the socio-economic life of the municipality.

The tender for the General Municipal Planning Plan will open. This plan will include the structuring nature proposals and the Urban Planning Plan. These plans will detail the urban planning and allow for individual developments. Each of the Ejidense municipalities has one nuclei.
