"That's Habeck's Blackout Bingo they're playing"

The CSU in the Bundestag has accused Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Greens) of irresponsibly dealing with the energy crisis and warns of growing protests in the near future. As far as security of supply is concerned, the situation is extremely serious, said CSU regional group leader Alexander Dobrindt on Tuesday in Berlin. The fact that the minister is hoping for a bit of luck in winter is irresponsible towards citizens, companies and the country. "That's Habeck's blackout bingo they're playing."

Dobrindt referred to statements made by Habeck in Lubmin in western Pomerania, according to which Germany, despite the lack of Russian gas, has a chance under certain conditions to get through the winter well - a lot of energy would have to be saved and one had to be lucky with the weather.

Dobrindt again called for an end to the gas surcharge to compensate for higher procurement costs. "If Robert Habeck does not quickly come to the decision to abolish this levy, then the Chancellor must take on this task and pull the plug on Habeck." The federal government has still not found a solution for the sharp rise in gas prices, companies and households charged.

However, this was "urgently necessary in order not to produce economic and social damage in this country in the next few months," warned Dobrindt. In view of the first rallies in East Germany, among other places, he warned against an expansion of protest actions. It is "a highly threatening situation" that will not only take place in political debates, but will probably also find expression on the street.
