New attractions for vacationers in Schleswig-Holstein

If this summer turns out to be only moderately nice, then the beds in Germany's northernmost state will be full again. After all, the land between the seas has plenty of beaches. In addition, the holiday resorts try to constantly renew themselves, because the competition never sleeps. This year, four attractions will open that should inspire young and old alike:

The open-air museum in Albersdorf offers history you can touch with a Stone Age village and camp. If you want to know how the hunters and gatherers made their way 10,000 years ago and how the first villages later emerged, this 40-hectare Stone Age Park is the right place for you.

Now the area is finally getting a modern museum building – the Stone Age House dedicated to the archeology and environmental history of the area. On the one hand, it is intended to be a place of learning and experience and, on the other hand, to function as a place for presenting current research results and as an active scientific institution. If everything goes according to plan, the new museum will open its doors on March 4th.

If you rest, you rust – this also applies to established holiday locations. That's why the town on the North Sea has afforded a signature building, which immediately arouses everyone's curiosity because of its architecture. In contrast to the well-known stilt houses on the beach - i.e. in front of the dyke - this four-storey building made of Siberian larch and with large window fronts stands directly behind the dyke line, also on high stilts, so that visitors can always enjoy the sea view.

The pile dwelling is designed as a family get-together. It is located directly on the promenade, is barrier-free and houses the children's playhouse on two floors as well as terraces, retreats and, of course, restaurants. A little late due to Corona, the Pfahlbau Familientreff plans to open in April.

The new building is still being worked on. But the new otter facility in the Multimar Wattforum should open in time for the start of the summer holidays. The Wattforum is in itself the best place to find out about the Wadden Sea National Park. But with the otters, which are up to 1.20 meters long, the facility should become an even bigger magnet for North Sea fans.

The animals, which always immediately conquer the hearts of visitors, were almost extinct in Schleswig-Holstein. They have since settled back into the wild. But since you hardly ever see free-roaming otters, the large enclosure with a pool landscape in the Multimar offers the best chance of seeing the cute little rascals.

It used to be completely normal to walk without shoes. But who walks through forest, meadows or mud these days? Some even ascribe therapeutic effects to this type of walking. In early summer, a four-hectare barefoot park will open on Fehmarn, which should not only attract city children who are unfamiliar with nature, but anyone who wants to know what it feels like to walk on different surfaces.

There are themed areas such as the beach, agriculture and hunting, plus a maze with a lookout tower. In addition, the operators of the park have created an interactive educational trail that tells visitors a lot about Fehmarn. There is also an adventure playground for children.
