La Zubia will train neighbors who are unemployed to be gardeners

Through the Department of Employment and Local Development of La Zubia, the City Council of La Zubia has created an employment workshop for residents aged 45 and over who are unemployed. Classes with both theoretical and practical content will be held in the Business Center of La Zubia for one year. The grant from the Andalusian government of 300,000.00 euros has been granted to this initiative.

Antonio Arquelladas, Councilor for Employment and Local Development, welcomed participants and highlighted that the program was possible because of the coordination of many areas of La Zubia City Council, Andalusian Service of Employment, and the Ministry of Employment, Training and Self-Employment of Junta de Andalucia. He thanked them for their efforts.

Arquelladas also encouraged students to use this opportunity to learn, train and have fun. He expressed hope that the program would "suppose a real, effective incorporation of each one into the labor force of each of them, which was the true goal that we pursue with him."

Mayor of Employment and Local Development expressed appreciation to the municipal Employment technique for "making all the necessary steps and managing the delivery of said program and subsidy in our town." The program administrator, director, teacher, and administrator were all commended for their efforts. Also, the selection committee was praised for their hard work and the Personnel Area for their speed in formalizing all necessary contracts in order to launch the program as quickly as possible..

Puri Lopez, La Zubia's mayor, spoke out in support of the importance of training programs for older people. Given the difficulty of finding work, Puri Lopez stated that "training in gardening will enable them to retrain professionally."
