Armilla organizes a full program of liturgical and sports activities for the San Isidro celebrations

Residents of Armilla can enjoy the May festivities of San Isidro (co-patron of Armilla along with San Miguel), during the month. On May 15, the celebration in honor the saint is held. It also takes place in Alcobendas and San Fernando de Henares, Cartama and Armilla. The municipality celebrates the festivity every year with a huge pilgrimage, accompanied by a procession of the saint's image.

On Wednesday, May 15th, the city will host a full liturgical event. The night of May 14th-15th will see the religious acts, which will begin with the procession de la Rosario de la Aurora at 1 AM. The image will depart the church San Miguel and will travel through Real de Armilla to San Isidro. Tres Cruces, San Isidro. San Isidro. Cervantes. Esperanza, Plaza Los Prados, Colon, before it is finally locked up in San Miguel. After a nocturnal eventful night, Holy Mass will take place in San Miguel Arcangel Parish Church at noon.

At 8:00 p.m. the last religious act will be performed. The procession of San Isidro's image, co-patron for the municipality, departs from Calle San Miguel again and travels through Ganivet Plaza Poniente Manuel Galera Plaza Tres Cruces San Anton, Pontevedra, Olivo, and other streets that form the tour of saint's image. These festivities make up an important month in the town and take place just weeks after the Day of the Cross on May 3.

Sports championships

The town will be participating in various sports activities to celebrate the patron saint's Day. The city will host a variety of races, tournaments and trophies starting May 11. On May 11, the XIII San Isidro Solidarity Children's Race will take place. When registering, young people who were born between 2005-2015 will be eligible to take part in the different categories. All proceeds will be donated to the local Food Bank.

The Nevada Rhythmic Gymnastics Trophy, an event organized by the Department of Sports, Nevada Rhythmic Gymnastics Club, will take part in the Municipal Pavilion on May 11. In addition, the Spanish Bodybuilding Championship will take place at Municipal Theater, and will be coordinated by the Department as well as the Olimpia Gymnasium.

The gunsmiths can participate in two city championships during the week of celebrations. Two championships have been organized by the Municipal Tennis and Padel Schools. They will be held between May 14 and 18. There is a registration fee for 6 euros per couple. This is free for members and there are categories for both children and adults. The VIII Volleyball Tournament, which will be held in the Rafael Machado Villar Pavilion on May 17, will feature the sports schools of both the City Council as well as the Sermud Armilla Club. Enjoy the Basketball Championship on May 17 and the IV City of Armilla swimming championship on May 17.

On Saturday, May 25, the sports activities will be closed with the closing of the Badminton Championships and the IV Juan Carlos Megias Cycling Trophy. The Ciudad Deportiva tennis courts will close on May 31, while the Municipal Theatre will close the sports schools for adults on May 17.
