The Armilla City Council will give land to the Junta de Andalucia in order to construct a new hospital. The plot covers approximately 7,000 square metres, which will allow for better health services to residents. According to the Municipal Corporation, the new center will provide "adequate benefits for the needs of the population in 21st century".
Loni Canavate is the mayor of the municipality. He justifies the construction of a new health center because the existing one is unlikely to grow. Canavate explained that the current location of the center, at Calle Sevilla makes it difficult to reach for doctors and patients.
Modern building
The new great health center will be able to scale up and have functional characteristics. The Consistory data shows that it will include primary care, emergency and physiotherapy rooms. It will be situated in an urban setting between the Historic Center of Armilla, and the Health Technology Park. It will have two floors and all the necessary services for a fully-equipped health center.
It will also be "accessible, energy-sustainable, and compliant with existing regulations," according to the City Council. 2,500 square meters will be built. A car park will be located next to the building, with a maximum capacity of 50 vehicles.
Loli Canavate asked the Granada Provincial Council for permission to transfer the plot next to the Virgilio Castilla Carmona Park. This will allow the center to have all its functionalities. According to the mayor, this construction is "one of the top priorities of the government team." Canavate stated that the infrastructure is essential for the town.
"The residents in Armilla need a new health centre with better equipment and more services. Canavate believes that health is an essential pillar of the welfare society. The challenges presented by our government team include the construction of this building. They have informed the City Council that the plot is suitable for carrying out the project.
