We spend more and more hours to stream video and movies from the internet. So why not put some training into YouTube format? It has A research centre for Craft - Design & Architecture done.
As a complement to the tømreruddannelsen they have launched a pilot project in which teachers and students should test the use of the 28 tutorials in the workshops.
the Project is at the same time, been followed by the Danish Centre for youth research.
Their study shows that the instructional movie is a formidlingsform, as many of the students like, and which they know from the 'tutorials' on for example YouTube.
- It is a medium and a form, which appeals to many of the students. We call them a few times for YouTube-genrationen.
They are used to look at how some of the media, and solve problems through tutorials or instructional movie, " says associate professor Arnt Louw from the Danish Centre for youth research, in a press release.
the Vast majority of students and teachers think it is a good idea with the tutorials on tømrergrundforløbet. The project has been running on three vocational schools: the Next Education Copenhagen, Mercantec and TechCollege Aalborg.
- There are some of the students, which tells them that they will be given a boost by being able to solve problems themselves via some tutorials, says associate professor Arnt Louw from the Center for youth research.
the Teachers tell that the films can 'buy' them a little time in the workshop, because they can put some of the students to solve professional challenges through instruktionsfilmene, while they help other students.
the Tutorials can also be used as preparation, and it may mean that the professional dialogue and reflection in teaching is lifted. The films can't stand alone, but be educational in the teaching of the teachers.
All the videos are now available on YouTube and can be freely used by all schools and the do-it-yourself people. Here you can find videos on how to install windows, insulate, and much more basic in tømrerfaget.
