Larsen's dødsplade: It so sad

Kim Larsen gave the danes evergreens like no other. But it is a long time ago. And finally he had no more to give. Not much in any case.

His posthumously released album, ’Songs from the first floor’, continues the widespread trend to negligible grind that have characterized His releases the past few decades.

The new album is still distinctively different.

’Songs from the first floor’ is primarily recorded in the legend's living room last spring with the help of the son of Hjalmer and impresario Paul ’Eagle’ Jeppesen. Despite the close circumstances, the plate is, however, not present.

It is basically a typical, reliable Larsen-slice, that just sounds like a demo tape.

First on the album's last two songs throw Larsen its usual mask as the whistling clown, and looks death in the face. And it's pretty strong stuff.

’the Cup with the chipped handle’ is really clumsy, but it is touching, when His voice threatens to crack, while he sings ’My time is past, past/But I'm still here’.

to Conclude, Larsen put music to Harald Herdals melancholy poem Now smells tjørnen’, where you can really feel that the old gårdsanger staring into his last sunset.

It is a beautiful and moving farewell on a plate, otherwise for rarely taking himself and the listener seriously.

Larsen's småchauvinistiske satire on ’Charlie’ and ’Today's man’ says much more about the songwriter, than the women, he makes fun of, but he unleashes the decent from the shelf the only one on the ’Miss moonlight’.

He sings a verse a cappella during the ’Summer’, and his voice is actually quite strong, kræftsygdommen taken into account, but the melodies are generally too weak, and songs such as ’The big day’, ’Cousin Fritz’ and ’Brønshøj-Husum Youth club’ swinger simply do not.
