Heart-warming: actor from ‘The Island’ gets 6,000 euro van buren for daughter with rare disease
Roosdaal Actor Luc Nuyens (51) and his wife Els Maes (50) were allowed up to 6,000 euros in receipt of their ‘neighbours’ from Kattem. The money is destined for the Belgian Rett Syndrome Association. The couple has a daughter who suffers from that syndrome. The money comes from a pop-up café in the hamlet.

In a relaxed atmosphere, presented the employees of the ‘Babbelstaminee’ Monday night, the symbolic cheque of 6,000 euros. Els and her husband Luc, known for his roles in several Flemish topseries such as The Island, What If? and, more recently, in The Luizenmoeder, were visibly impressed.

“our club is such a gift is very important as we are entirely dependent on donations,” says Els. “This is money we can use for the payment of a speech therapist that we hired and the entire country forward. She is responsible for training and coaching of therapists who with our daughters work as parents and families. We are working on a project in which the girls with their eyes special spraakcomputers can control in order to be able to communicate. That cost us $ 1,000 per month, so it is wonderful to know that we are once again a half year has passed.”
