I can partially agree with the submitter with the title ”For the environment, it is better to go by car than boat shuttles” that it would be better to go by car than boat shuttles – but only provided that you could take a hundred passengers per car, or the car could even go on the water.
Now it is not so, and the boat relieve the road access in Stockholm. It should, therefore, be it miljöpartistiska trafikborgarrådet Daniel helldén's favorite.
in Addition, it saves a lot of time to go boating, some routes up to 4-5 times what it takes to go by car, especially in rush hour. In addition, you can sit and work or socialize with their fellow passengers during the journey. Beautiful lobby is very high on board.
if the shuttle boats on the waters off Stockholm in 1999 with the project Sjöbussen it was with plans that we would start to run shuttle boats on biodiesel. We planned to diesel/electric operation, the most modern at the time, for the eco-friendly waterborne transport in the urban environment.
After the interaction with the Hammarby sjöstad project is (in Stockholm city) and real estate companies around Nacka Strand, Area, Poland and the island of Lidingö, we made a traffic planning which later was taken over by the current Sea. In the autumn, passed a million travelers per year.
the Project Sjöbussen received the 2004 165 million by the city of Stockholm to design, build and put three bio-gas powered boats in the traffic. After the Traffic had responsibility for the project started in the spring of 2005.
when the city of Stockholm changed its political color from red rule to the blue took trafikborgarrådet Mikael Söderlund (M) the money back on the grounds that these ”should omdisponeras for the maintenance of the existing road and traffic network in order to preserve existing facilities, and ensure accessibility and good urban environment”.
since Then the project has been further developed under the name Sea route and the responsibility taken over by the SL. Most of the traffic is driven so far with conventional diesel-powered boats. The exception is the boat, ”the Sea”, which was put into traffic in september 2014, which is electrically powered and the most modern and most environmentally friendly vessel on the waters off Stockholm.
this trafikformen has a bright future, and will evolve a lot in the inner Stockholm water under the banner ”across is always closer than around”.
