Automobile giant launches new electric car brand

the Name Ioniq may say something to you as a Hyundai model, but in the future you need to get used to that Ioniq is a true elbilmærke under Hyundai.

It informs the Korean automotive group in a press release.

Ioniq-name, who today sits on an electric and hybrid model with the Hyundai logo in the front, will by 2021 be the name of a sub-brand of Hyundai for pure electric vehicles. The cars must be sold by Hyundai dealers.

- Ioniq-the brand will change the paradigm in the field of user experience of electric cars, says Wonhong Cho, executive vice president of Hyundai Motor Company, in a press release.

the Name merges 'ion' and 'unique' to 'Ioniq', and the first Ioniq-car is a medium sized crossover with the name Ioniq 5, which comes out on the street in 2021.

5'eren based on the concept of 'the 45', which Hyundai unveiled at the IAA show in Frankfurt last year. In the year 2022 will Ioniq 6 so come, and here you are talking about the sedan based on hyundai's latest electric concept, called 'Prophecy'. Later comes a Ioniq 7, which becomes a big SUV, which comes in the beginning of 2024.

Hyundai Motor Group has the stated goal to sell one million copies of the electric cars in 2025, where they are also going after have a total market share for electric vehicles of 10 percent.

According to the FDM, the current Hyundai Ioniq model simply called Hybrid, Plug-In Hybrid, and Electric. If it sounds a tad confusing, calms the FDM, however, the current Ioniq model probably will only be in production a year or two yet, and that the confusion therefore will connect to the time. Away will Ioniq only be the name of a sub-brand of electric cars from Hyundai.
