American arrested for espionage in Moscow

According to the Russian state news agency RIA Novosti is an american citizen arrested in Moscow on suspicion of espionage.

The Russian security police FSB reports that the arrest took place in the nation's capital 28. December of this year. According to the security service to arrest have happened under an anti-spionasjeaksjon.

According to the FSBs statement, the man was shot while he was committing a spionasjehandling.

the federal security service have named the man, while the american authorities have not yet commented on the arrest.

the Man indicted for the Russian criminal code section 276, which deals with espionage. It is the same section as the Norwegian Frode Berg now sits imprisoned. Enacted on 10 to 20 years in prison.

It is unknown why the american man was in Moscow, or what the u.s. government says about the charges. It has also not come statements from the Russian authorities about the arrest.

Russia has the last time been involved in a number of spionasjesaker. In march of this year, the Russian eksspionen Sergei Skripal and his daughter attempted to be killed with nervegiften novitsjok on british soil. British authorities believe Russia is behind the attack.
