XV of France: Baille back against Italy, Willemse on the right track

3 days before the match against Uruguay, the probable XV of France is taking shape. On the sidelines of training in front of 3,000 supporters this Monday in Rueil, Bruno Boussagol, health manager of the French XV, gave news of the injured.

Cyril Baille, injured in his right calf in mid-August against Scotland (musculo-aponeurotic detachment of the internal gastrocnemius) “is progressing. He goes through speed sessions. This means that potentially, he will return to the field from next week. Our objective is to gradually bring him back to the group so that he is competitive. He should be competitive perhaps from Italy.”

“He passed all the caps that allow us to put him on the ground and put him in situation. We have made enormous progress with him. He is in good spirits and he benefits from all the care and attention of the staff,” added the doctor about Cyril Baille (29 years old, 44 caps).

Bruno Boussagol also spoke about the situation of second-line Paul Willemse, who injured his thigh the week before the World Cup while performing individual exercises during the rest week. “Paul is in Montpellier, where he is taken care of by the medical staff of the MHR (his club, Editor’s note). He will resume racing at the end of the week. The healing protocol is going pretty well. He could return during the competition if the opportunity presents itself.” This will only be possible, in fact, if another player withdraws.
