The second row of Racing 92 Cameron Woki, author of a remarkable start to the season in the ranks of the leader of the Top 14, estimated Thursday that he had “a revenge to take” after a delicate first season in Hauts-de- Seine.
“My performances are rather good because I feel much better at Racing 92” than last season, explained the French international at a press conference before the reception in Castres on Saturday (5 p.m.). “I wasn't necessarily at ease last season, I was playing with this nostalgia for Bordeaux, but I understood that it didn't serve me at all,” underlined the 25-year-old second row.
Trained in Massy, the native of Saint-Denis left Île-de-France in 2017 to join Union Bordeaux-Bègles, where he played nearly 100 matches before joining Racing 92 in the summer of 2022. “Today I am 100% fulfilled at Racing. I have my marks, I feel good with the staff, my teammates,” he added.
This well-being at Racing 92, Cameron Woki explains that he found it on his return from the World Cup, in particular with his new coach Stuart Lancaster.
“I am fascinated by these coaches who make me learn a lot. Stuart teaches me every day, he brings me another vision of rugby. It’s a vision that is more academic and it’s something that suits me completely,” commented the man who has played eight matches out of nine possible since his return from the 2023 World Cup.
“Everything is square and everything is straight, there is a lot of discipline and that’s also what helped me find myself in the club. Stuart has this way of managing, of training, which I had never experienced and which suits me rather well,” he explained.
