With the boom in generative artificial intelligence in recent months, mobile phone manufacturers have begun to incorporate some functions based on this technology in their terminals. Some have decided to launch new high-end phones that boast AI, while little by little they are extending some of these functions to lower-end terminals. Others have directly announced updates that incorporate some generative artificial intelligence tools.

The terminals that have been launched on the market with AI functions have a clear advantage, as they have been designed with chips and the necessary power to run this type of specific technology, in addition to being able to receive software updates that include more functions. This group would currently include the Samsung Galaxy S24 family and the Google Pixel 8 and 8 Pro, although more teams are expected to join them throughout the year.

The Galaxy S24 Series opened the technological year by making it clear that AI is the feature that currently makes the difference. Samsung terminals are capable of transcribing recordings, translating and summarizing them, in addition to translating phone calls and improving intelligent editing functions in the camera.

Likewise, earlier this month, the Korean company announced that it was extending some of these features to the company's other high-end terminals, such as the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5, as well as the Galaxy Tab S9 series of tablets. Thanks to this update, these teams can now transcribe classes or meetings, translate calls in real time, select an object to search for on Google or instantly delete an element from a photo.

Google and its new Pixel phone is another of the great devices with generative AI incorporated since its launch. The Pixel 8 and 8 Pro deploy all their technology in this field in the photographic section, being able to change the facial expressions of the users in the image. In addition, it has transcription of recordings, translation functions and very intuitive Google search options, such as the search button that is also present in the Galaxy.

For its part, this year we are also seeing some firms that have launched new equipment prepared to support the potential demands of generative AI, but that are going to incorporate these functions little by little during the year. An example is Xiaomi, which according to Chinese media is working on hundreds of AI functions and the Xiaomi 14 will be the first devices to receive a good part of these innovations. The Chinese company already spoke in its presentation during the last Mobile World Congress in Barcelona that it was working hard on this technology, and according to some media it is almost ready to open what they call the treasure chest of AI. Also during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, ​​the Chinese company Honor announced its commitment to generative AI in its top-of-the-range device, the Honor Magic 6 Pro. Honor's AI analyzes text and images to anticipate what the user is going to do and automatically presents the most suitable applications for quick execution of tasks.

Likewise, the British company Nothing has announced this week a curious incorporation of generative AI to its equipment, introducing ChatGPT to its headphones and announcing that OpenAI intelligent chat will also be available on its mobile phones next week.

Through the new integration, users will be able to interact with the artificial intelligence tool from headphones while on phones, the use of ChatGPT will be improved including the ability to share screenshots and widgets in the style of Nothing.
