The transfer window: Beraldo arrives at PSG, a promising Argentinian in Strasbourg?

Paris Saint-Germain seems to have its first winter recruit. Various sources (L'Équipe, Le Parisien, RMC Sport...) announce an agreement between PSG and São Paulo for the transfer of Lucas Beraldo. The 20-year-old left-handed central defender is expected to leave his native Brazil for the sum of €20 million. He has already agreed with the leader of Ligue 1 on the terms of a future contract. Beraldo will join PSG while Presnel Kimpembe is further than ever from a return to the field, and the absence of Nuno Mendes on the left forces Lucas Hernandez to help out in this position rather than playing in the axis of the defense.

According to the Evening Standard, Strasbourg will have a budget of €25 million to recruit this winter. The Alsatian club, owned by Clearlake Capital which is also the owner of Chelsea in England, could set its sights on Valentin Barco, Argentinian international hopeful. The 19-year-old left piston would especially appeal to Chelsea, and could therefore transit through Strasbourg before, if he deserves it, being “promoted” to the Blues. Racing, coached by Patrick Vieira, is 9th in Ligue 1 at mid-season and remains on three consecutive victories.

Marc Guiu will celebrate his 18th birthday on January 4, and he could receive a nice birthday present from FC Barcelona. The Catalan newspaper Sport reports that Barça wants to extend the striker, who has played at the club since the age of 7. His current contract expires in June 2025. Guiu has appeared three times for the first team scoring two goals. He would also like to extend his contract to Barça, reigning Spanish champion and current 4th in La Liga.

Who will recover Claudio Echeverri, new River Plate gem? At just 17 years old, the Argentine attacking midfielder is turning heads in Europe. “I am not going to renew my contract, but I am going to stay here for another six months or a year to enjoy,” he declared this week, while his lease expires on December 31, 2024. At the beginning of December, the coach of Barça's Xavi had complimented Echeverri who had already said he was a "big fan of Messi" and "would like to play for Barcelona".

But as reported by the Argentinian media TyC Sports, the Blaugranas are limited on the financial aspect. Where Manchester City would be ready to spend €30 million this winter and wait a year before integrating the player into their squad. River Plate would decide to sell Echeverri in the coming month.
