A fantastic end to the year for Arthur Fils. The young French player, who is currently playing the Next Gen Masters in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), was invited to train with Rafael Nadal in Kuwait from December 8, as revealed by L'Equipe.
“He very kindly invited me,” explains Fils, 19, at a press conference. I'm going to give it my all and try not to fly away too much on his forehands! I’m going to make the most of it.” The 36th player in the world will therefore share part of the preparation of the Spaniard, who announced his return to the courts on Friday. “Rafa” will play the Brisbane tournament in January before the Australian Open.
While waiting for this week of training, Arthur Fils qualified for the Masters final by beating his compatriot Luca Van Assche in the semi-final.
