Who could have predicted that Benoît Paire would one day overtake Rafael Nadal in the ATP rankings? In the latest, published after Wimbledon, the Frenchman ranks 131st and the Spaniard 140th.

Paire has just won the Challenger in San Benedetto, Italy, beating Richard Gasquet in the final. A great performance which earned the native of Avignon a jump of 16 places in the standings. Nadal has continued his slide since a thigh injury at the Australian Open in January kept him away from the courts.

Regarding the top of the ranking, Carlos Alcaraz, crowned in London, consolidates his place of N.1 ahead of Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev. These are followed by Casper Ruud, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Holger Rune, Andrey Rublev, Jannik Sinner, Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe.
