Serie A: “Everyone is working to find how to move forward,” says Juve general manager Maurizio Scanavino

Juventus Turin coach Massimiliano Allegri retains the confidence of his leaders, even if his team has only won one match since the end of January, assured Wednesday the club's general director, Maurizio Scanavino.

“There is great confidence on our part towards the coach and the team,” declared the manager during an event organized by Juventus, according to comments reported by the Italian press. “The season started with a lot of enthusiasm and good results, we are in a more complicated phase. On the pitch, it's not always brilliant or when our performances are positive, we don't get the result we deserve. But we are not giving up,” he continued.

“Everyone is working to find how to move forward as quickly as possible and achieve our objectives, namely qualification for the next Champions League and the final of the Italian Cup,” insisted Mr. Scanavino. Long neck and neck with Inter Milan, Juventus has lost its footing since the end of January: it has only pocketed seven points in eight matches and has fallen to 3rd place, 17 points behind the Milan leader and three lengths behind AC Milan (2nd).

Juve, deprived of European competitions during this financial year, can save its season with the Italian Cup, where it will face Lazio Rome next month in the two-way semi-finals. In office since 2021 after a first stint between 2014 and 2019, his coach, whose contract expires in June 2025, has been under pressure for several weeks, particularly from some of the supporters who are calling for his departure.
