Serie A: a disappointing draw for AC Milan at last place, Salernitana

AC Milan snatched the point of a draw at the end of the match (2-2) on the ground of the red lantern, Salernitana, Friday during the 17th day of the Italian Championship.

Milan remains third in the standings, eight points behind leader Inter Milan, which hosts Lecce (12th) on Saturday. The Bianconeri, on the other hand, are three lengths ahead of Fiorentina, who climbs to fourth place after their 1-0 victory at Monza (11th) thanks to a goal from Argentinian Lucas Beltran (7th).

In Salerno, the Englishman Fikayo Tomori opened the scoring for the Milanese (17th), but Filippo Inzaghi's players turned the match around with two goals from the Argentinian Federico Fazio, with a superb header (42nd), and 'Antonio Candreva (63rd) with an off-center shot which deceived Mike Maignan.

Stefano Pioli's players equalized through Luka Jovic, after a good header from Olivier Giroud (90th).

At the start of the evening, Lazio Rome won at Empoli (2-0) and Genoa won at Sassuolo (2-1).

Serie A does not take a break for the end-of-year holidays and the 17th day continues on Saturday.

Simone Inzaghi's Inter Milan fell from a height on Wednesday at San Siro: eliminated from the Italian Cup, of which it had won the last two editions, by Bologna (2-1 after extra time).

She also lost Lautaro Martinez, top scorer in the championship, and defender Federico Dimarco who withdrew after injuring a thigh on Wednesday.

Juventus, 2nd four points behind Inter, visits Frosinone (13th) which it could find in the quarter-finals of the Italian Cup.

And the reigning champion Naples, sixth and already relegated 14 points behind Inter, faces AS Roma (8th) at the Olympic Stadium.
