Rugby World Cup: “We did not achieve our objectives”, regrets the Georgian coach

Levan Maisashvili, Georgia coach: “This Rugby World Cup didn't end as we had hoped but for the first time our aim was to win every game. Even against Tier 1 teams, we played to win. Yes, I'm disappointed, like the players since we didn't win a single match. We weren't able to achieve our objectives, namely to win at least two matches, but we always did everything to win. We never gave up. As for the refereeing, I don't want to talk about it (a contentious try was awarded to the Welsh, editor's note). It's useless. We made mistakes and let the opponent score. But let's not forget that we played against some of the best teams in the world. I hope that in the next World Cups, we will do better.”

Merab Sharikadze, center and captain of Georgia: “We fought until the end. We had ups and downs, we didn't win but at least no one can say we gave up. We sometimes had difficulty finishing certain matches but compared to our fans, as Levan (Maisashvili, the coach) said, we are happy and honored by their support. We promise them that one day, we will bring them more victories.”
